Keep safe, warm and well this winter
LED bulbs use up to 80% less energy than traditional bulbs, last longer and could save you up to £40 on energy bills.
If you can, set your thermostat between 18°C and 20°C, a comfortable yet efficient temperature. Turning your thermostat down by 1°C could save you approximately £80 a year.
Unplug or switch off at the socket appliances and electronics when you’re not using them. Many devices consume energy even when turned off. Unplugging them can save you on average £30 a year.
Use cooler settings on your washing machine. By reducing the temperature setting from 60°C to 30°C, you can save up to 60% on energy per wash.
Seal any gaps and cracks by doors or windows. Proper insulation helps keep your home warm in winter, reducing the need for heating.
Air-dry dishes and clothes, if possible. Letting dishes and laundry air-dry instead of using the dishwasher or dryer saves energy.
