Looking after your health and wellbeing this winter
It may be getting cold outside, but there are still many ways you and your family can stay healthy, no matter what the weather's like.

Be prepared
If you take regular medication, make sure you have a supply of any prescription drugs you need. You can learn more about how to do this via the NHS's online health and prescription services. Visit NHS's Stay Well this winter for more information on keeping you and your family healthy during the winter months.
If you're going out, the Met office offers a range of advice on how to stay safe, warm and healthy too.
Look after yourself
Many of us feel tired and sluggish during winter. One reason can be the lack of sunlight, which can disrupt your sleep cycle.
Staying active, eating well, and staying hydrated throughout the day can help maintain energy levels. NHS Live Well has advice, tips, and tools to improve health and wellbeing.
The autumn issue of Peabody magazine also includes lots of tips to help you:
- Keep fit and active.
- Look after your mental wellbeing.
- Stay safe in the dark evenings.
Look out for your neighbours
Remember to check on older and more vulnerable neighbours and relatives. If you think someone may need extra support or you're concerned about a neighbour, please let us know. If it's an emergency, please call the police or an ambulance on 999.
We’re undertaking winter wellbeing visits to residents aged 75 and over from 27 November until the end of January 2024. We'll send everyone we're visiting a letter letting them know when we’re in their area. If you’re chatting with an elderly neighbour over the next few weeks, please remind them to look out for a letter.
