Southmere
Shortlisted for Best regeneration scheme (urban)
Peabody’s 30-year vision is for Thamesmead to finally realise its full potential and become London’s new town. Southmere is the focus of the first phase of this vision, which will see over 7,000 new homes built over the next 10 years, alongside new civic amenities and major public realm improvements.
We're currently building 534 new homes next to Southmere Lake, along with a new civic square which will host a public library, community facilities, shops, cafés and leisure facilities. This is being delivered in two phases, the first of which will be centred around the civic square, named Cygnet Square and new library and will be complete by Summer 2021, with the library due to open by 2022.
The Reach
