Rainbow boxes
Three of our customers at Third Avenue, a supported living service in Chelmsford, wrote to their local hospital to thank them for all of their hard work. They also included a colourful box of rainbows.
Here’s what the letter said:
Dear Broomfield Hospital Please accept our rainbow box from the customers and staff from Third Avenue in Chelmsford. We would like to thank you for all your hard work, care and commitment you have shown to everyone in our area, this is our way of saying thank you, we really enjoyed making this box for you and we hope you enjoy its contents. We here at Third Avenue all have learning disabilities and usually attend local Day Services, so our lives were turned upside down with the lockdown, however we have found ways to keep busy at home and we are all having a great time together. Our home is full of rainbows, inside and outside, we clap for you every week, so thank you!!! Yours sincerely Customers and staff at Third Avenue |
Breakfast club
Georgia Mann, Community Regeneration Assistant, told us about local residents Sue, Penny and Claire.
Sue usually runs a breakfast club. She was eager to support those who usually attend but who are now vulnerable, isolated, and unable to get out to buy food. Working with volunteers, she has initiated a contact-free food delivery system to support those who need it.
Penny, along with her colleague Claire, deliver activities for children and young people in the school holidays. During lockdown they've been helping at the Community Hub Call Centre. They want to protect vulnerable adults and children who might be struggling so offer phone friendship, shopping or collect deliveries for those unable to leave their homes.
There are lots of people helping others right now. If you know of someone who is making a special effort at this time please tell us about it.
