Poppy Walk

To commemorate this year’s Remembrance Day, knitters from Peabody’s King Edward Community Centre’s knit & natter group lovingly crafted over a thousand poppies for the Noak Bridge Community Remembrance Walk. The knitted poppy designs feature on bus shelters and on 20 trees across the Essex village.

The Noak Bridge village committee came up with the idea for the ‘Poppy Path’ to create a remembrance trail for people walking and driving through the area. They contacted the knit & natter group who were delighted to take on the challenge for the project for the neighbouring village. The knitters crafted over 1,000 poppies which are now being enjoyed by the village’s community and visitors.

The knit & natter group also skilly crafted a stunning remembrance display that they took to a local care home for their residents with dementia to enjoy and share their personal memories.

The knit & natter group is open to any age or knitting ability and takes place every Wednesday from 1-3pm at the King Edward Community Centre, Laindon, Essex, SS15 6GY.
