Mayor of Lewisham visits our new affordable homes at Parkside

Mayor of Lewisham Damien Egan, alongside local Ward Councillors and Council Officers, visited our Parkside development in Lewisham.

Being built by contractor Ardmore, Parkside, formerly Heathside & Lethbridge, is in the final phase of its regeneration programme with phases five and six creating an additional 443 homes, with 224 affordable homes, including 171 homes for social rent.

The natural surroundings of the site will be reinvigorated with an established management plan for the Site of Interest for Nature Conservation (SINC). Once complete, the SINC which covers approximately 12,500 square meters will support and encourage natural flora, fauna and birdlife back into the green space with a plan to maintain and preserve it for generations to come. Phases one to four of Parkside are already complete, delivering 782 new homes with a modern community centre, community café, nursery and commercial space.

Parkside is a large-scale regeneration project which is not only creating new homes but also re-energising the natural surroundings, creating more green space and preserving local wildlife for Lewisham residents and the local community to enjoy.”

The Mayor of Lewisham, Damien Egan, said: “I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on this development. It has been a long-term project to rebuild council housing for existing residents and to build an extra 128 social homes. It’s good to see an example of a developer really thinking about good design and quality of materials.

“I wish everyone living in the new development many years of happiness there and thank Peabody for working with us to take families off our housing waiting list and providing secure homes.”

Our affordable homes in south London

We have a longstanding involvement in creating affordable homes for communities in Lewisham. Pomeroy Street has just been completed in New Cross, having transformed two derelict industrial units into 65 new homes with 35% for social rent and shared ownership. In addition, the former Frankham Street school site is under development, delivering 209 homes, including refurbishment of the old school buildings, of which 117 are affordable.

Amersham Vale is being delivered in partnership with Sherrygreen homes, creating a mixture of one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom townhouses next to Charlottenburg Park. Once complete, Amersham Vale will provide 120 new homes, including 24 affordable and 15 shared-ownership homes. We are also on-site at Sydenham Road, delivering 33 homes that are 100% affordable and one commercial unit.
