Tracy Packer, managing director north-east London, said:
“Thankfully no-one was seriously injured in the fire and we’re incredibly grateful to the emergency services for making sure everyone was safely evacuated. We’re also very grateful to the council, the local church and the community who worked with us and pulled together to look after each other.
“My local colleagues were on the estate until the early hours of the morning supporting residents and the emergency services. The team made sure everyone had something to eat and drink and helped them with whatever they needed. This support will continue over the days and weeks to come.
“We found alternative accommodation for about 25 residents and others stayed with family and friends. The local team is still supporting residents today and we’ll stay in touch with everyone who lives in the block as well as close neighbours and offer support for as long as we’re needed.
“We’re working with the relevant agencies to assess the damage to the building and look at when people might be able to safely return. While it’s too early to determine the cause of the fire, we will support the emergency services with their enquiries.”
