Black History Month is a significant event in Peabody’s calendar. We organise and support events in our communities and with colleagues to recognise the achievements and contributions of people of black heritage around the world.
Our ‘Black History Month Fund 365’ offers grants of up to £500 for local voluntary and community organisations planning or running projects at any time of the year, not just in October. The fund has helped bring many wonderful events to life including a Windrush Tea Dance celebrating African and Caribbean culture through traditional dance, a cross-generation photographic project and a Caribbean food lunch club.
The fund is a partnership between Peabody and fellow housing associations A2 Dominion, Metropolitan Thames Valley, Sovereign and Network Homes. The funding helps bring communities together, promote awareness and celebrate the contributions of women and men of African and Caribbean heritage throughout history and in contemporary times.
The fund welcomes applications four times a year. Look out for details of the next round of funding coming soon.
