There's lots to do at our healthy living centre in Southwark.
Darwin Court is a healthy living centre which is open to the public, and a housing scheme for the over-50s.
This means that the local community can join residents in enjoying a range of health, fitness and relaxation activities.

Darwin Court Food Hub
Drop into the Darwin Court Food Hub to pick up your free food parcel.
Opening hours:
- Tuesdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm
- Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 4.30pm
- Thursdays from 3.30pm to 6.30pm
The food hub is open to all Peabody residents. You don’t need a referral or food vouchers but bring something to show you’re a Peabody resident. Learn more on our events calendar.
Safe space available
Are you experiencing domestic abuse? Visit our safe space.
Ask at reception and someone from the team will show you to the safe space room where you can:
- Use the telephone to contact whoever you need.
- Find information about domestic abuse support services.
- Use the internet to look for help.

Swimming pool (depth 1.3m, length 15m)
Sessions for different groups: over 50s, women only, schools, parents with children under 5, as well as open public sessions. Swimming lessons can also be arranged.
About the pool
- 15m long, 5m wide, 1.3m deep, (ideal for children and beginners).
- Hoist available.
About the changing rooms
- Male, female, and disabled.
- Baby-changing facilities are available.
Safety
- The pool is always supervised by qualified lifeguards. Please tell them if you or anyone in your group has any medical conditions.
Safety with children

Under-fives must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 17+, on a one to one basis. For under-eights, it's two children per responsible person.
- Children who aren't toilet-trained must wear swimming nappy (these are for sale in our reception).

- £3 per 45-minute session.

- Please help keep the pool fresh for everyone by showering beforehand.
- If you want to take photos, please check with reception first.
Exercise classes
These include yoga, relaxation, fitness for the over-50s, stretch, women-only keep fit, Pilates, t'ai chi.
Therapy room
Offers treatments such as massage and reflexology, plus a hairdressing salon.
Employment and training
Trained advisers are available to help you find work or training. More information.
Conference room
Spacious air-conditioned room, with overhead projector, smart board system and Wi-Fi facilities. Available for hire on request. Catering available on request.
Birthday parties
We can organise birthday parties for your family and friends.
This offer at Darwin Court in Southwark includes one-hour swimming sessions, with floats and games provided, under the supervision of lifeguards. Everyone can also spend an hour in the bistro area, with lunch, drinks and party bags. We do all the work for you so you can relax and enjoy your celebrations.
The cost is £250, everything included (there's a £20 discount for Peabody residents). Up to 20 children are allowed.
